If I could rate this so called doctor lower that a 1 star I would. He runied my left ankle by attempting to perform surgary on it even though he is not an ankle surgeon.
He then left a 12mm step in the bottom of my tibia causing a futhur 6 surgeries to be undertaken at my own cost to try to fix his mistakes and then lied about it and tried to cover the lie by saying he called another surgical team to perform the origanial operation. This man should be avioded at all costs he lies and should be struck off for malpractice.
Poorly trained doctor, who undertook an operation that he was not trained to do, nor did he complete the approved aftercare leaving me disabled in my left ankle by his poor surgical skills and training.
I am a PT and was actually looking at surgeons for a client of mine when I came across this site with two unfortunate out comes which I’m sorry to hear about.
This surgeon operated on my ankle Nov 2020. I had totally smashed the tibia and fibula and dislocated the foot. Surgeon’s just looked at it and said, ‘how did you do that?’. The other complication was that I had a DVT from my ankle to my thigh in the same leg which had grown but not occluded. This made it more complex. Ioannis and Chris Stevens did a great job repairing my ankle, 2 plates 12 pins. 3 years later I’m working out with my clients, jumping and although they said I wouldn’t run a marathon I could certainly run a half marathon and the ankle functions very well.
I don’t like to give negative ratings. But seeing another’s comments makes me write this review.
My surgery caused damage and constant pain five years on. Within days of the operation the registrar said this was unusual. Mr Palaialogos said it was usual and nothing to worry about, a line he maintained for several months.
The preparation had been poor to the point that my friends said I should draw arrows myself to show what leg was being operated on.
But the rating is not about the surgery going wrong. It is about the disregard for me as a patient. We did not meet until two weeks after the surgery. Yes after. Not once beforehand. Not in the hospital in the morning of the procedure. Not when I was in recovery.
I wasn’t told the details of the surgery (there were different approaches to it and they were not discussed with me), or warned of the specific risks.
Every clinic ran about 90 minutes late. I even turned up once to find the hospital had no record of an appointment.
And when I complained, Mr Palaialogos sat on his response by months. PALS was excellent and so was the day surgery team.
