I’ve come across some arrogant people in my life but this man makes them all seem humble in comparison! I was admitted to hospital with a ‘resting’ pulse of 148 bpm, chest pain and pressure, breathlessness just from standing up, hypertension and frequent palpitations. I felt so ill that i hadn’t left my house or bed for 5 weeks apart from visits to the doctors. The way i was spoken to by Dr Bassi was a disgrace – he made me feel like i was just wasting everyones time being in hospital and tried to tell me my symptoms were just a worsening of my heart condition (Severe LVH) and “natural ageing of the heart” (im only 36 slim and normally very active!). His general tone was very aggressive towards me. Its not the kind of way I would expect to be spoken to be one of the senior cardiologists at the hospital and he should know when his patients are suffering from heart problems and anxiety that they should be treated with compassion and not like they are just a big hypochondriac! I even heard one of the nurses mention that he wouldn’t speak to me again until they send me home. Is this how all new patients are treated by him?
It turns out it wasn’t a worsening of my heart condition at all – it was a bad reaction to one of the drugs i was put on which id complained about to my GP which was causing all the horrible symptoms mentioned earlier which they saw fit to ignore.
DR Bassi is a fantastic cardiologist and has put me on a new path in life. I have had heart problems for as long as I can remember and I have tried everything, but nothing would work, until I met DR Bassi. He saved my life, and I can never repay him. I completely recommend Dr Bassi, and tell everyone struggling to visit him.
I was under Dr Bassi’s care six years ago, when I was in King’s Mill for several weeks prior to going to City Hospital in Nottingham for open heart surgery. I found him to be very professional with a no nonsense attitude (but a good sense of humour!) I was under his care until I moved to a different part of the country one year ago.
